Establishing and Sticking to a Workout Routine

I’ve been doing the same workout programs and nutrition plan every day for 4 years now. Some of you are going to think that sounds insane, but it’s the truth. When I committed to start these workouts and meal plans 4 years ago I wasn’t sure how long I would do them for, but as the years passed and the results continued to happen I knew I was in it for the long haul.

I know that starting and sticking to workouts is one of the hardest things for people to do, but why? Why is it so hard for us to stay consistent with something that benefits us but it’s so easy to consistently scroll through social media for hours a day? I have a theory that comes down to ease, convenience, and motivation. Sitting on our couch and scrolling through social media or watching TV is WAY easier and more convenient than getting up and doing a short workout, and it sure doesn’t require any motivation!

So how can we break this habit and find a workout/meal plan routine that works specifically for us and STICK WITH IT? It’s simple, find something you ENJOY doing! Just like you enjoy scrolling or watching TV you have to find a workout you WANT to get up and do! Same goes for nutrition, you have to find that specific meal plan that fits your lifestyle, gives you flexibility, and doesn’t completely eliminate all of your favorite things.

Personally, I enjoy heavy lifting and cardio intervals for my workouts. I am not an endurance athlete who likes to run for hours or sit on the elliptical to burn calories. So the workout plans I choose always have both heavy lifting and cardio intervals in them. If you’re more of a Barre/yoga person, then find a program that involves that! I also don’t have the time, money, or motivation to trek to a gym every day to get my workout in. Therefore, when choosing a program I have to choose one that I can easily do in the comfort of my own home with the equipment I have available. I have even been able to continue to use these programs and prenatal specific ones throughout my current pregnancy! It’s so easy to find ones that have modifications fit for any season you’re in in life.

Where do I find all of these programs that I’ve done for the past 4 years? Beachbody on demand. This platform has hundreds of different workouts to choose from and there are so many different types! From yoga, Barre, power lifting, to dance I assure you that there is a program that will fit your needs on here. And the best thing about it? You can do it all at home (or a gym if you choose) and you can change your workout program at any time. That’s why I’ve been able to stay consistent with these programs for 4 years and never plateau or get bored! If time is your issue then find a 20 minute program (there are plenty) and get it done! There are even several 10 minute workouts sprinkled throughout that you can do super easy when in a time crunch!

Honestly, in my opinion, there’s no excuse to not working out/being consistent with a workout if you are pointed in the right direction. Getting started is the hardest part, but once you do I promise it’ll change your life!

I would love to help guide you in the right direction for a workout program to get you started towards your fitness and nutrition goals. I didn’t even address nutrition on here because for every program there’s a different meal plan that I can also help walk you through. Like I said, I’ve been doing these workouts and meal plans for 4 years and I don’t plan to change. They’re always adding new workouts and meal plans to keep me changing things up and its been such a blessing to be able to do it every day at home!
