Testament Tuesday – A Bold Prayer
Our lives are our stories, and every day is a new page. What do you think of your story so far? If you’re not overly thrilled with it just know you can always change it. Psalm 18:24 says “God rewrote the text of my life when I opened the book of my heart to his eyes.”
Whoa. So, our stories can change for the better, but only when we fully open our hearts to God. We have to first be willing to fully invite God in to rearrange, restore, renew, and rewrite our story. Usually, we wait until we are broken, defeated, and completely fallen apart before we go to God for help. But what if we didn’t wait? What if we invited Him into our lives because He knows what’s best for us. We need to fully surrender to him and stop pretending like we can hide our thoughts from God. He knows exactly what we are struggling with and how we are feeling.
I don’t know if you’re stubborn like me but sometimes it takes a lot for me to let go of control. But there’s an easier way, and that’s to fully surrender to Him now. Don’t wait to be knocked down before going to Him.
Psalm 129:23-24 says
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
If you just read that verse out loud then you understand how bold it is. Read it again. It’s asking God point blank to search our hearts and test our faith. I mean that’s kind of intimidating if you ask me. But here’s the thing, we NEED to be that bold in our prayer. We need to be asking God to show us what we truly need to change in our hearts and minds. Don’t pray it if you’re not ready, but I will say I believe that prayer is the boldness we need. We need to ask Him to show us our faults and be willing to listen and fix them.
How many times have we fixated on what other people are doing wrong before ever evaluating ourselves? We need to stop. We need to boldly ask Him to show us where we’re wrong and be willing to change.
Are you ready for your story to be rewritten? Are you ready to give every single ounce of you to Him and know that He has a plan for you? It starts here. It starts with giving God your heart. Ask Him to change anything that needs to be changed, hold nothing back. Give Him everything. Your plans, your ways, your attitude, your timeline, your choices. Give it all to Him and see what He can do for you.
