Testament Tuesday – He is Always for You

Have you ever gone through a time in your life where you just feel like everything is against you? Or maybe you’re in that right now. You feel like even God has to be conspiring against you and delaying you because of everything going on… but deep down you know that’s not true. And yet, it’s so hard for us to imagine anyone let alone God being on our side in times of trials. Why is it so hard for us to believe that He is for us and He is constantly cheering us on?? For me it’s hard to believe this because I give meaning to things that don’t need meaning attached to them. I convince myself that xyz is happening because of this, or that. When in reality whatever is happening in my life is a provision from God. I don’t always need to give things meaning, and neither do you. Just because a trial is happening, or things are being delayed doesn’t mean that we’re being punished. No, it means that God has so much more in store for us. God is constantly working on all things in our lives.

Believe it y’all. He has not left you to struggle, He has not put you in the middle of this mess without a reason. He believes in you.

“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

But sometimes it’s hard to see it. It’s hard to see that God is for us at all times. I’m sure I’m not the only one who can be easily convinced that somehow I must have disappointed God, that He has to be against me for all of this to be happening. Those thoughts are straight from the enemy in order to keep us in bondage. This is how he attacks our confidence and ultimately our identities, he makes us question God’s love and approval. But this is clearly not true, we know that God does not look at us with condemnation but instead with love and hope.

HE IS FOR YOU. He is behind you and your hopes and dreams. He is constantly cheering you on in all you do.

Do you want to know a secret? There’s only one person who can be against you. It’s not your co-workers, your neighbor, your haters or naysayers….nope not a single one of them, it’s YOU. You are the only one who can get in the way of God’s plans and cheers for your life. I am my own worst enemy. I am the queen of self-doubt and self-sabotage, constantly getting in my own head of why things are the way they are. But it’s in times of trial and delay when we let our guard down and allow the enemy to creep in. It’s in times of struggle and sadness that we actually start to believe that God has abandon us. We can’t let this happen. Sometimes things in life just won’t make sense, and it’s not supposed to. We aren’t meant to know why things happen the way they do right now, but someday we will. Lately I’ve been trying to remind myself that though I don’t understand it now, one day I will. That right there is the kind of faith God wants us to have. It’s the kind of trust God is working in our lives because he doesn’t expect us to understand it all.

It’s not about understanding how God works, but it is about trusting that God is working. We may not understand how things are all working in our lives. Things happen every day that just simply won’t make sense. But it’s during these times when we have to lean in and trust that we have a mighty and powerful God who knows it all, sees it all, and is working it all together for our good.

God is for us. Know that if He isn’t getting your out of it, He is giving you the strength to get through it. Our understanding of life events is not required, our trust however is.

Trust Him for He is for You.
