Testament Tuesday – The Greatest Comeback

We all love a great comeback am I right? When your favorite sports team is trailing and then all of a sudden then come back and get the win, it makes it just so much sweeter right? The suspense makes it so much better. I have to believe that we aren’t the only ones who love a good comeback story, I think our good God loves one too. He knows we have struggles, but He also knows the victory that lies ahead. He is never nervous or taken aback by the setbacks we might be on. He already knows the ending and He’s promised us that it’ll be so worth it once we make it!

2 Corinthians 4:17 says,

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.”

This verse is telling us that no matter what our worry, trouble, struggle, or hardship may be they’re all temporary. It won’t last forever.

And sometimes don’t we need to know that comfort just to be able to get through it? Don’t we need to know that it won’t suck forever? Life will go on; the sun will shine again, and God will show us His grace and mercy. The joy in our hearts will return, our hopes and dreams will come back. That just because it might not be in our favor right now, our comeback is coming, and its WAY BETTER than we could ever expect!

It’s time we declare that our comeback is coming. We need to say it so our hearts and minds can believe it! We don’t know when or how it’s going to happen, but we can always trust that God is working and has victory for us.

But as we know, losing happens. But God is still working with us through the loss. And what we thought was the end, God says is our beginning. What we think is defeating, might be God’s redirection to a better life, one greater than we could ever imagine.

Think back to times in life when we’ve lost. A personal defeat that ultimately brought us to where we are today. Did it end up better than you imagined? Even though in that moment it sucked so so badly? We lost our baby, but it brought us to be so much better equipped for this next one. I wouldn’t be writing these devotionals or blog posts either if we hadn’t gone through that devastating time in our life. My defeat was ultimately used for good. God is always working in the details of our lives; He uses our disappointments to deliver us to our destiny!

Know this in the midst of your trials. God is always working in the details of our disappointments to deliver us to our destiny!

Of course we all want the epic comeback without having to suffer through the setbacks. But God knows exactly what he’s doing when He allows disappointment to touch us. He knows His plan will bring it all together for good and that our comeback will be epic.

Now is not the time to give up. What if now is the time for your comeback?

Romans 5:3-5 says,

“There’s more to come. We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!”

We need to team up with God. With His limitless power and our God given potential, we can do the impossible. We can make the epic comeback. It’s our time. Step up and declare what’s ours.

Our comeback.
